NCJRA Queen's Court

In 2005, the N.C.J.R.A. board created the queen's court to compliment their junior rodeos.  Typically, the N.C.J.R.A. is represented by a senior queen and a first runner up, as well as a junior queen and her first runner up.  The queen and her court reign for a full season starting immediately after their appointment through the following years contest and appointment of the new royalty.  Once the new court has been selected, the outgoing queen and junior queens crown the newest members of the queen's court.

In order to be selected as a member of the queen's court, each contestant must undergo a rigorous selection process.  The selection process includes a personal interview, rodeo knowledge and skills test, and public speaking presentation.  Based on the results tabulated by an independent panel of judges, the queens and their court are rated and selected.

The N.C.J.R.A. is currently represented by the senior queen, Riley Fielder for the 2010-2011 rodeo season.  Riley has been a member of N.C.J.R.A. since she was nine years old, and has really enjoyed the great experiences N.C.J.R.A. has offered.

In addition to appearances at each of the N.C.J.R.A rodeo grand entries, Riley represents the association throughout the state of California and beyond participating in other rodeo grand entries, parades, fundraisers and special events.  As ambassadors for the N.C.J.R.A, the queen’s court help to encourage general interest in the sport of rodeo as well as participation and new membership in the association.  The N.C.J.R.A royalty truly embodies both the spirit and traditions of the sport of rodeo and the grace and poise required of their positions.

This year will be Riley's last year competing in the N.C.J.R.A.  In August, Riley will be leaving to attend Fresno State University where she will play goalkeeper for the women's soccer team.  Riley is very excited about her opportunity to attend Fresno State and become part of the Bulldog family and experience the pride and strong community support that Fresno extends to their athletes.  In addition to playing varsity soccer, Riley plans on majoring in Kinesiology.

Riley would like to thank her family, friends, and parents for their support of her love of rodeo; without them rodeo wouldn't be the same.  Riley would also like to extend a special thanks to Kip Ablin of Kip’s Rhizome Ranch for his generous support over the past few years.

On behalf of the N.C.J.R..A. Board, good luck Riley and thank you for representing us this year!

Queen contestant applications for next year's queen and queens court contestants will be available soon.   If you are interested in participating in the upcoming queen's court selection as a contestant, judge, or as a sponsor, you can review the current year application for an overview of the process or contact Gwen Fielder, the queen coordinator at: gdiamondj@clearwire.net for more information.
