 Rule Book

What is the NCJRA?

The Northern California Junior Rodeo Association is a nonprofit organization established in 1982 to promote youth rodeos in California.  The Association established and maintains standards and rules to govern all of the sanctioned rodeos for youth age 6-18.

You don't have to be an experienced rodeo hand to join the NCJRA.  Come to a rodeo and ask any board member for help.   We will do our best to help you get the right equipment, meet the right people that can help you, and get you started in one of America's greatest sports.

Are you a seasoned rodeo veteran?  Then come see what NCJRA has to offer.  There are 12 rodeos and two fundraisers all within a 2 hour drive of each other.  Its common to have 200 plus contestants, big paybacks and buckles at most of the rodeos.  NCJRA continues to grow each year, adding members and new rodeos.  If you are looking for a top notch rodeo experience, come see what NCJRA has to offer.

What others are saying about the NCJRA:

"It was my first year in rodeo and everyone was so nice to me".  J.M.

"I've been to other rodeo association events, even H.S.R.A. events, that often take hours and hours to finish.  NCJRA is more organized than any other association.  There were over 200 kids and we were done by 5pm, loaded and headed home!"  P.J.

"I've seen professional rodeos with less contestants than you see at NCJRA rodeos.  When you pull into the rodeo grounds and see 100 plus trucks and trailers you know this is going to be a good rodeo, and as soon as these NorCal kids get started, you can see where tomorrow's next group of pros will be coming from." B.F.

"When I first got started in calf riding, one of the junior bull riders came over and gave me a few tips.  I won the buckle that day!  It was really nice for him (A.R.) to help me.  He didn't even know me!"  C.F.

"I've been around rodeo my whole life, first with my dad, then my high school and college days, now with my kids.  Its still the best experience in the world".  J.B.

"One thing I've noticed about NCJRA day in and day out; there are more nice parents and nice kids than any other sports event we go to."  D.B.

“Cowboy Capital of the World”

We Need YOU to vote!  Help keep the title in CALIFORNIA!!

The Oakdale Cowboy Museum describes the newest contest that YOU need to be aware of:

“Cowboy Capital of the World” has long been the slogan for Oakdale, a unique town whose history is rich in ranching and rodeo cowboys. There are a few towns across America who also take claim to this title like the folks out in Stephenville, TX.

In honor of the National Day of the American Cowboy, which is being celebrated on July 26, the two cities have agreed to a friendly challenge to see just who really is, “The Cowboy Capital of the World.” “Both cities indeed have their share of cowboys,” said Oakdale Cowboy Museum Executive Director Christie Camarillo. “We came up with a beef promotion that involves the sale of tickets to track this challenge. Win a Side of Beef for a $10 ticket donation.” The city who sells the most tickets will be crowned, “Cowboy Capital for the year.” There will be two winners for the Win a Side of Beef Contest based on ticket sales from Oakdale and ticket sales from Stephenville.

If you buy a ticket, you automatically cast a vote.  If you buy a ticket through NCJRA, the proceeds collected are donated to NCJRA so please vote, it will help NCJRA raise money and you just might have enough beef for a BBQ for your family and 300 of your closest friends.

Karen Serpa has tickets available for purchase.

MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE DUE!

Your membership fees are due on or before the Rodeo entry CLOSE DATE, NOT the day of the rodeo.  Membership fees paid late will disqualify the contestant from receiving points for rodeos completed before the date the membership fee is paid.  Last year, some finals events year end points were decided by a very, very tight margin.  Don't miss out on qualifying for points in each and every rodeo.
